Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district, has recently taken to social media to communicate important community updates and events. Serving in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Elizabeth Esty, Hayes continues to engage with her constituents through various initiatives and acknowledgments.

On March 26, 2025, Jahana Hayes reminded high school students in her district about an impending deadline for the Congressional Art Competition. She stated: " #CT05 high schoolers The deadline to submit your works of art for the Congressional Art Competition is THIS FRIDAY, March 28."

In another update on the same day, Hayes celebrated Alex Velezis as Waterbury's Greek Mayor for the Day. Acknowledging his contributions to the city, she noted: "We honored the Waterbury Greek Mayor for the Day, Alex Velezis. From serving as a constable for the City of Waterbury to supporting the Annual Greek Festival, we thank Alex for his many contributions to our city."

Additionally, Hayes attended a House Democrats' Steering and Policy hearing on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). She expressed her commitment to safeguarding this program by sharing: ".@HouseDemocrats held a Steering and Policy hearing on SNAP. Putting a name and a face to these harmful cuts, and hearing the stories of those impacted solidifies my resolve to protect this essential anti-poverty program."
