Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district, has recently shared several updates via her social media account. The posts highlight upcoming events, educational policy perspectives, and concerns over data privacy.
On February 6, 2025, Hayes announced an upcoming town hall meeting scheduled for Saturday, February 8th at Cheshire High School Auditorium. She invited constituents to join her for discussions about her work in the 119th Congress. "This Saturday, February 8th I am hosting a CT-05 Town Hall at the Cheshire High School Auditorium (525 S Main St, Cheshire). Doors open at 1:30 PM. Come by to ask your questions, share your thoughts, & hear more about my work in the 119th Congress."
Later that day, Hayes addressed educational issues on social media. She emphasized the importance of special education services provided through IDEA and expressed opposition to public funding for private schools. "7.5 million students receive special education services through IDEA. The Dept of Education is an absolute necessity for our students with special needs. Private schools should not be funded with public tax dollars."
In another post on February 6th, Hayes raised concerns regarding a data breach involving sensitive personal information accessed by Elon Musk. She stated that this incident was unacceptable and mentioned joining over 150 House Democrats in seeking answers from U.S Treasury Secretary Bessent concerning this security issue. "Elon Musk now has access to the most sensitive personal data of millions of Americans. This data breach is unacceptable. I joined over 150 House Democrats in a letter to @USTreasury Secretary Bessent demanding answers on this attack on security & privacy."
