About the Malcolm Baldrige Awards Evening:

Few can claim to have had a greater impact on American industry than Malcolm "Mac Baldrige". His accomplishments are chronicled worldwide in newspapers, magazines, documents, and journals. He is well known in Russia and China, where he negotiated trade talks during his tenure as Secretary of Commerce during the Reagan Administration. He is acknowledged in America for his legacy of success through quality. Baldrige is embraced here in Waterbury, a city he frequently used as a springboard for his economic and business development activities. A former chairman of the board of directors of the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce, Baldrige led the Eastern Company and subsequently worked for more than two decades as president and CEO of Scovill Manufacturing. He continually demonstrated his beliefs in community, leadership, and volunteerism as he worked for the betterment of the Greater Waterbury Region. The Malcolm Baldrige Chamber Awards Evening was inspired by Mac Baldrige's commitment to his community.
