On April 15, 2025, Hayes highlighted concerns regarding the potential funding cuts to emergency food providers in Torrington. She noted that these cuts could dramatically impact operations at the Torrington Community Kitchen, which serves hundreds of hot meals weekly to those in need. Hayes stated, "I am continuing to work in Congress to help secure desperately needed funding for valuable community" efforts.

Later that day, Hayes posted about the community engagement efforts of seniors in Torrington. She expressed support for the Foster Grandparents Program, which encourages seniors to make lasting impacts through multi-generational relationships. Hayes was born in 1973 in Waterbury, Connecticut, and currently resides in Wolcott. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2005.
