Jahana Hayes, a U.S. Congress representative from Connecticut's 5th District, has been actively engaging with issues affecting her community, as reflected in her recent social media updates. Serving in Congress since 2019, Hayes has focused on community welfare and social programs, drawing attention to the socio-economic challenges faced by her constituents.

On April 15, 2025, Hayes highlighted concerns regarding the potential funding cuts to emergency food providers in Torrington. She noted that these cuts could dramatically impact operations at the Torrington Community Kitchen, which serves hundreds of hot meals weekly to those in need. Hayes stated, "I am continuing to work in Congress to help secure desperately needed funding for valuable community" efforts.

Later that day, Hayes posted about the community engagement efforts of seniors in Torrington. She expressed support for the Foster Grandparents Program, which encourages seniors to make lasting impacts through multi-generational relationships. Hayes remarked, "Seniors volunteering in #Torrington are looking to make a lasting impact on their communities through the Foster Grandparents Program, which breeds multi-generational relationships."

On April 16, 2025, Jahana Hayes attended a town hall organized by AFSCME Council 4, where union members from the 5th District gathered to discuss crucial topics impacting their lives. Hayes related that they spoke about various issues, "everything ranging from protecting social security, workers' rights at the federal level, safeguarding voting rights and restoring fairness to the" social structure.

Hayes was born in 1973 in Waterbury, Connecticut, and currently resides in Wolcott. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2005.
