Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district, shared a series of tweets on April 1, 2025, touching on important issues ranging from education technology to civil rights. Hayes, who succeeded Elizabeth Esty in 2019, has been vocal about her responsibilities and priorities.

In her first tweet from April 1, 2025, Hayes highlighted the critical role of the Office of Education Technology at the Department of Education. She emphasized the necessity of their support, stating that: "The Office of Education Technology at the Dept of Education assists states with implementing AI tech safely & fairly in schools. Without the resources & expertise they have historically provided, states & school districts will not be equipped to navigate emerging technology..." Hayes draws attention to the importance of resources and expertise for effectively incorporating AI technologies in educational environments.

At 19:02 the same day, Hayes shifted focus to the legislative process in Congress. She supported the concept of proxy voting, a measure designed to aid members of Congress who are new parents. According to Hayes, this is critical to ensuring their ability to fulfill their duties without silencing the broader demographic of working parents: "Today I supported proxy voting in Congress. Making it harder for members, who are new parents to do their job — silences the voice of every working parent across the country. We rallied together and soundly defeated this attempt!"

Later that evening, Hayes attended a forum on Civil Rights in the Trump era, convened by RM Bobby Scott. She underscored the importance of factual information from trusted partners in light of numerous executive orders: "An informative forum on Civil Rights in the Trump Era convened by RM Bobby Scott. As we grapple with the deluge of damaging executive orders- fact based information from trusted partners is key."
