Jahana Hayes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district, has been active on social media, sharing her recent engagements and legislative efforts. Hayes replaced former U.S. Congress member Elizabeth Esty in 2019 and continues to be involved in community events and policy-making.

On February 18, 2025, Hayes tweeted about attending an Officer Installation Ceremony for the New Britain NAACP Branch 2006-B. She extended her congratulations to Jan Edwards on her election as President and all newly elected officers, emphasizing the ongoing tradition of civil rights and social justice. The following day, February 19, Hayes announced the reintroduction of her legislative proposal aimed at addressing food insecurity among college students. Her tweet highlighted the Closing the College Hunger Gap Act, which seeks to inform college students about their eligibility for SNAP benefits. "Food-secure college students? That’s the way we like it! Today, I reintroduced the Closing the College Hunger Gap Act. My legislation would make a more food-secure future possible by notifying college students of their eligibility for SNAP."

Later that same day, Hayes participated in a celebration in Waterbury honoring Irene Saunders as the 2025 African American Mayor for the Day. In her tweet, she expressed happiness at joining this event and presenting Saunders with a certificate recognizing her contributions to both the Waterbury community and healthcare field.
