Jahana Hayes, currently serving as a U.S. Congresswoman for Connecticut’s 5th district, shared several updates on social media recently. Her posts covered community service opportunities, remembrance of a tragic event, and local infrastructure developments.
On December 13, 2024, Hayes informed her constituents about the availability of caseworkers to assist with federal agency issues at Danbury City Hall. She announced that they would be present on Tuesday, December 16 from 11 AM to 4 PM. "Need help with a federal agency? Our caseworkers will be back at Danbury City Hall on Tuesday 12/16 from 11 AM to 4 PM."
On December 14, she reflected on the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. In her post, she urged people to honor and remember the victims while emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance school safety. "Twelve years ago, we lost 20 innocent children and 6 selfless educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Please take the day to honor, remember, and reflect. Tomorrow, the work continues to ensure schools are safe for kids and communities."
Later that day, Hayes attended an event marking the reopening of Fire Station 7 after renovations funded by the American Rescue Plan. She highlighted how this funding supports emergency services in the Walnut-Orange-Walsh neighborhood by reinstating dedicated first responders as essential members of the community. "I attended the grand reopening after a renovation of Fire Station 7...bringing dedicated first responders back as a cornerstone of this community."
