Naugatuck Valley Community College Holds Advanced Manufacturing Information Session

Naugatuck Valley Community College will hold an Advanced Manufacturing Information Session on August 3 at 5:30 p.m. on its Waterbury campus, in Technology Hall Lobby.

All are welcome to take a tour and learn more about Naugatuck’s  advanced manufacturing technology certificate program, financial aid,  scholarships, and options for utilizing the certificate credits toward  an associate degree or transfer to other colleges.

Classes begin on August 29, with full- and part-time  options. Those students who enroll full-time can earn a certificate in  as soon as a year. Students can prepare for positions as CNC and machine  operators, inspectors, and other positions on the shop floor. The  program includes paid internships and job placement services.

The Connecticut manufacturing sector will need thousands of new  skilled workers over the next decade to support this growing sector.  Manufacturing employees in Connecticut can earn up to an average of  $1,000 per week.

Naugatuck students enrolled in advanced manufacturing technology  programs can apply college credits earned to four-year degrees in  manufacturing-related career technologies at other private and public  universities in Connecticut through the College of Technology, a  collaboration among Connecticut’s community colleges and partner  universities to provide seamless career pathways for students to earn  certificates, associate of science and bachelor of science degrees in  engineering and technology disciplines, as well as preparing students  for the workforce.

With campuses in Waterbury and Danbury, NVCC serves more than 4,000  credit students each semester, offering more than 80 associate degrees  and certificates, including eight associate degrees and certificates  with manufacturing emphases. For more information on manufacturing  programs at NVCC call 203.575.8173, or email sbetts@nv.edu.

Naugatuck is among 12 community colleges in Connecticut merging in  2023 to become CT State Community College, one of the largest community  colleges in the country and largest in New England, dedicated to  quality, access, and affordability. CT State students will be able to  apply once and take classes at any campus. In addition to NVCC, other  locations include Asnuntuck (Enfield), Capital (Hartford), Gateway (New  Haven & North Haven), Housatonic (Bridgeport), Manchester, Middlesex  (Middletown & Meriden), Northwestern (Winsted), Norwalk, Quinebaug  Valley (Danielson & Willimantic), Three Rivers (Norwich), and Tunxis  (Farmington) Community Colleges.
