6.7% of New Haven County residents considered unemployed in 2021

New Haven County recorded an unemployment rate of 6.7% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 31,105 people out of the 864,751 living in New Haven County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in New Haven County has increased compared to the 6.4% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in New Haven County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 6%.

Of the 433,006 people who had a job during that time, 289 were employed in the Armed Forces and 432,717 belonged to the civilian labor force.
