CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH: Pandemic: Panic or Peace

Bbb

Calvary Baptist Church recently issued the following announcement.

Psalm 91:1-16

It is astounding how proud and self-sufficient men can be brought low by a microscopic virus! The humble child of God can trust a great God who is able to deliver from the noisome pestilence (destructive plague–Psalm 91:3). Our Lord has told us that prior to the great tribulation (probably in the first half of Daniel’s 70th week), there will be “great earthquakes…famines and pestilences (plagues)” in various places (Luke 21:11). Our Saviour has told us beforehand what will happen to our world which has rejected the true and living God (Matt. 24:25).

As believers living in these last days, we have a wonderful hope. Before the tribulation plagues arrive, we will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thess. 4:13-18). Until then, we know that nothing, not even a tiny, infectious virus, can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 8:38-39).

Our sovereign God controls every germ and every virus, and not one hair of our head can fall apart from His knowledge and consent (Matt. 10:28-31). Remember, a virus can only attack the body, but it can never harm the soul. Gaius was enduring poor bodily health, and yet his soul was prospering (3 John 2). The key is to make sure that all is well with our soul. God will take care of the rest. “Seek first the kingdom of God” and the Lord will make sure that we have every- thing we need to serve and honor Him (Matt. 6:33).

While people around us might panic, what a wonderful opportunity to point them to a loving God who cares for their souls. Let us be ready always to give an answer to everyone that may ask a reason for the hope that is in us with meekness and fear (1 Pet. 3:15).
