Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, has recently shared her activities and legislative efforts through social media posts. Hayes, who was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, and currently resides in Wolcott, is known for her advocacy in education and public policy.

On February 12, 2025, Hayes announced her support for a bipartisan initiative aimed at improving nutritional options in schools. “Today, Ed & Workforce marked up the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act. I voted for this bipartisan legislation to make whole milk in school cafeterias another option for students”, she stated.

The following day on February 13, 2025, Hayes participated in a rally organized by the National Education Association (NEA) to defend public schools from proposed changes by notable figures Elon Musk and Donald Trump. She tweeted: “Rallied with @NEAToday to Protect Our Public Schools. Educators, lawmakers, parents & students are standing strong against attempts by Musk & Trump to gut the Dept of Education”.

Later that same day on February 13, Hayes recounted an incident where she was denied entry into a federal building despite having congressional credentials. In response to this event, she has drafted new legislation titled the All Access Act. She shared: “Last week, I was locked out of the @usedgov despite showing my congressional credentials. I immediately got to work & drafted new legislation: the All Access Act to guarantee Members of Congress cannot be denied entry to federal buildings.”
