Jahana Hayes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, recently shared updates on community events and national observances through her social media posts.

On November 9, 2025, Hayes attended a local government event in Plymouth. She wrote, “It was a pleasure to join the 2025 Town of Plymouth Inauguration Day Ceremony. The people of this community have entrusted these leaders with the next chapter in Plymouth. Congratulations Mayor Sekorski and all who were elected.”

Later that day, she highlighted an achievement by a local youth in Farmington and West Hartford. Hayes stated on November 9, “3 years ago Maddie wrote me a letter expressing concern about the issues she deeply cared about. Today, I joined Troop 1163 at her Court of Honor where she became the first female Eagle Scout in Farmington & West Hartford.
Maddy turned her concern into action and I am so”

On Veterans Day, November 11, Hayes expressed appreciation for military service members: “This #VeteransDay we express our immense gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our veterans. A debt that can never be repaid and one we will always appreciate.”

Hayes has represented Connecticut’s 5th District since replacing Elizabeth Esty in 2019 and is known for her engagement with local communities as well as national issues. Born in Waterbury in 1973 and currently residing in Wolcott, she graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a BA in 2005.
