Jahana Hayes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress as a representative of Connecticut’s 5th district, recently shared several updates illuminating her engagement with different facets of her constituency. Throughout her tweets, Hayes highlights her interactions and viewpoints on various socio-political issues addressed within her community and beyond.

On April 22, 2025, Hayes reflected on her participation in a meeting with the Junior Newtown Action Alliance. She remarked, “Attended a Junior Newtown Action Alliance meeting with young people who have transformed tragedy into meaningful change.” She emphasized the importance of listening to these students as they discuss the impact of legislative decisions on their lives.

The following day, April 23, Hayes provided a summary of her activities over the past week. She noted, “Another week, another wrap!” Her engagements included visits to local small businesses, conducting a Town Hall, hosting a roundtable on Medicaid, and speaking at the UConn Health Hunger Symposium.

Later on the same day, Hayes expressed her concern over recent administrative decisions impacting public health. In her tweet, she stated, “The Office of Minority Health was created to improve the health of marginalized populations and underserved communities, including rural communities.” She voiced her opposition to the elimination of these critical services directed by the HHS Secretary.

Jahana Hayes has represented Connecticut’s 5th District since 2019, having previously replaced Elizabeth Esty. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1973, she is now 50 years old and resides in Wolcott. She holds a BA from Southern Connecticut State University, achieved in 2005.
