Jahana Hayes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, recently highlighted her legislative initiatives and constituent services through a series of social media posts.
On September 2, 2025, Hayes informed constituents about assistance available with federal agencies. She wrote, “Need help with a federal agency? Our Case Work On Your Corner team is here to help. We will see you TODAY at Meriden City Hall from 11 AM to 4 PM.”
The following day, on September 3, Hayes announced new legislation aimed at supporting tipped workers: “I introduced the Tipped Worker Protection Act to ensure tipped workers across Connecticut and the nation receive their full tips in addition to the federal minimum wage. All work has value, and every worker deserves a full, fair wage.”
Later on September 3, Hayes addressed education policy concerns: “As this administration continues to undo education programs & gut funding, I am focused on concrete steps that will benefit all students and close learning gaps in the US. Things like: •Title I-A programs for development & learning •Title II teacher prep programs •Supporting”
Hayes has served as a member of Congress since replacing Elizabeth Esty in 2019 and represents communities across Connecticut’s 5th district. Born in Waterbury in 1973 and currently residing in Wolcott, she graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
