Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district, recently shared updates and announcements on social media regarding her activities and opportunities for constituents.

On March 15, 2025, Hayes tweeted about her participation in an event at James Hillhouse High School. “I joined my House family for the renaming of the foyer at James Hillhouse High School in honor of Dr. Lonnie Garris Jr. for his 41 yrs of service in the New Haven Public Schools, and 20 yrs as the longest serving principal at Hillhouse.” She expressed gratitude to Dr. Garris, who had mentored her as a student.

The following day, March 16, 2025, Hayes encouraged high school students in Connecticut’s Fifth District to participate in an art competition. “#CT05 student-artists, time to showcase your creativity! The 2025 Congressional Art Competition is open for all Fifth District high school students. Submit your original artwork by 3/28 for a chance to display it in the U.S. Capitol.”
