Jahana Hayes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, recently posted a series of updates on her social media accounts covering topics from sports achievements to congressional internship opportunities and infrastructure investment milestones.
On March 30, 2026, Hayes expressed support for the University of Connecticut basketball teams by posting: “Men & Women… POWERHOUSE!!! #UCONN #basketballcapital #marchmadness”.
Later that day, she announced an opportunity for students interested in public service: “Interested in gaining valuable experience in a congressional office? Then apply for a summer internship in my Waterbury or D.C. office. Portal is open- Apply by May 1, 2026 More information: https://t.co/YBc7NVo0mN https://t.co/V3DudvICu9” (March 30, 2026).
On March 31, Hayes highlighted the anniversary of major federal infrastructure legislation at an industry event: “CT Construction Industries Association hosted a Surface Transportation Reauthorization Breakfast with the Congressional delegation. It has been five years since the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which provided over $1 billion in infrastructure investments”.
Hayes was born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1973 and currently resides in Wolcott. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a BA in 2005. Hayes succeeded Elizabeth Esty as representative for Connecticut’s 5th district and has served continuously since taking office.
