Jahana Hayes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, has recently used her social media platform to highlight legislative priorities and community outreach efforts.

On March 24, 2026, Hayes posted about a meeting with the advocacy group Are You Dense CT to discuss insurance coverage for ultrasound testing for patients with dense breast tissue. She wrote, “Our team met with Are You Dense CT to talk about how important it is to get HR 6182 passed. Kateri from Southbury credits access to ultrasound testing for early detection as a lifesaver – tests that should be covered by insurance for patients with dense breast.”

Two days later, on March 26, 2026, Hayes informed constituents of her office’s local outreach: “Our Casework On Your Corner team will see you TODAY at New Britain City Hall from 11 AM to 4 PM.”

Later the same day, she addressed ongoing gender pay disparities in recognition of Equal Pay Day. Hayes stated, “More than six decades after the passage of the Equal Pay Act, women still do not earn wages equal to their male counterparts in the same jobs. This #EqualPayDay, I am a cosponsor of a resolution addressing the widening gender pay gap because fair wages should be the standard for”.

Hayes was born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1973 and currently resides in Wolcott. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Hayes succeeded Elizabeth Esty as representative for Connecticut’s 5th District.
