Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, shared a series of tweets on February 7, 2025, addressing issues ranging from historical civil rights decisions to upcoming community engagements and governmental concerns.

In her first tweet of the day, Hayes referenced the landmark Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education Topeka Kansas, decided in 1954. She noted the relatively short span of time since this decision by stating that “we are only 3 generations removed!” and emphasized that “Our children deserve better.” The full post can be viewed here.

Later that day, Hayes announced an event she was hosting: “TOMORROW: I am hosting a CT-05 Town Hall at the Cheshire High School Auditorium (525 S Main St, Cheshire). Doors open at 1:30 PM.” She invited constituents to participate by saying, “Come by to ask your questions, share your thoughts, & hear more about my work in the 119th Congress.” Further details are available here.

In another tweet posted on February 7th, Hayes informed her followers about her visit to the U.S. Department of Education (@USEDGOV) to seek a meeting with the Acting Secretary of Education. Her goal was to counteract what she described as “ongoing efforts to dismantle the Department.” A live stream link was provided for those interested in following this engagement here.
