Hayes has been serving in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Elizabeth Esty. She continues to engage with her constituents through various channels.

On November 16, 2024, Hayes informed the public about an upcoming opportunity for assistance with federal agencies. She announced that caseworkers would be available at Danbury City Hall on Monday, November 18, from 11 AM to 4 PM. “Need help with a federal agency? Our caseworkers will be back at Danbury City Hall on Monday 11/18 from 11 AM to 4 PM.”

The following day, November 17, she highlighted American Education Week by emphasizing the significance of equitable education for all students. Hayes stated, “This American Education Week we celebrate the importance of safe, just, and equitable schools. Every student deserves a quality education – no matter where they live.”

Later that day, Hayes also addressed healthcare affordability under the Inflation Reduction Act. She noted the impact of capping insulin costs for Medicare recipients at $35 per month as a significant achievement during National Diabetes Month.
