Jahana Hayes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, recently posted a series of updates on her social media account addressing community events and constituent services.
On April 1, 2026, Hayes marked the beginning of Passover by extending well wishes to those observing the holiday. She wrote, “Today marks the beginning of Passover. I wish everyone observing, a peaceful and meaningful evening filled with blessings of kindness and mercy for a life of peace and happiness.”
The following day, on April 2, she shared her experience moderating an academic event in Connecticut. Hayes stated, “An exhibition of excellence! What a pleasure to moderate the CT NAACP Great Debate featuring Yale and Howard University. This initiative continues to inspire a new generation of gifted scholars, ready to showcase their intellectual prowess and oratorical skills. It was a”.
On April 4, Hayes informed constituents about upcoming assistance available through her office’s outreach program in Meriden. She posted: “Need assistance with a federal agency? Our Case Work On Your Corner team will be in Meriden Tuesday, April 7 11:00AM – 4:00PM Meriden City Hall, Mayor’s Conference Room, 142 E Main Street No appointment necessary.”
Hayes has represented Connecticut’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Elizabeth Esty in 2019. Born in Waterbury in 1973 and currently residing in Wolcott at age 50, she is an alumna of Southern Connecticut State University where she earned her BA in 2005.
