Jahana Hayes, a U.S. Congress member representing Connecticut’s 5th district, shared updates on her recent activities through social media posts. Hayes, who has served in Congress since 2019 and was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, is actively involved in local community matters.
On May 8, 2025, Hayes tweeted about a gathering of “#CT05 farmers & friends” to discuss the challenges facing small farms and explore opportunities for Litchfield County to support local food sustainably. She expressed gratitude towards Northwest Connecticut Food Hub and The Foodshed Network for organizing the event.
Later that day, Hayes reported landing at Bradley International Airport (BDL) and heading directly to join a picket line. In her tweet, she stated she was there to “stand in solidarity with IAM members.” She praised the International Association of Machinists (IAM) union members for their expertise and advocated for their job security.
On May 9, 2025, Hayes attended the 34th Waterbury Police and Fire Department Memorial ceremony. In her post, she honored those who have passed away by acknowledging their commitment and courage. She noted that “their commitment and courage kept us safe” and emphasized that their sacrifices will not be forgotten.
