On April 21, 2025, Hayes informed constituents through her first tweet that her “Casework On Your Corner” team would be available at Danbury City Hall. In a subsequent tweet, Hayes discussed her initiative related to childcare. At Tunxis Community College Early Childhood Center, she addressed the challenges faced by student-parents in finding affordable childcare. Hayes shared, “As a student parent myself, I know how hard it was to find affordable childcare. The visit and the introduction of the PROSPECT Act underline her efforts in enhancing early childhood education opportunities and support for students.
Jahana Hayes was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1973 and currently resides in Wolcott. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, she has represented Connecticut’s 5th District since succeeding Elizabeth Esty in 2019.
