Jahana Hayes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district, has recently shared insights on various issues through a series of tweets. Hayes, who succeeded Elizabeth Esty in 2019, addressed topics ranging from public education funding to agricultural support and global hunger initiatives.

On February 11, 2025, Hayes highlighted the importance of public schools in providing free and appropriate education as mandated by law. She warned that without support from the U.S. Department of Education (@usedgov), local districts might face difficult decisions regarding program cuts or increased local taxes to bridge funding gaps. “Public schools provide the free & appropriate education that is mandated by law.”

Later that day, she turned her attention to the challenges faced by farmers in Connecticut due to unpredictable extreme weather conditions. Hayes emphasized the significance of the Farm Recovery & Support Block Grant Program established under the Continuing Appropriations & Extensions Act 2025. This program aims to ensure that small- and medium-sized farmers receive necessary assistance during such challenging times. “CT farmers have endured unpredictable extreme weather challenges.”

In another tweet posted on February 11, 2025, Hayes expressed her enthusiasm for joining Bread for the World (@bread4theworld) as they launched their Nourish Our Future campaign. She reiterated the role of the United States as a global leader in combating hunger worldwide. “Great to join @bread4theworld as they launch their Nourish Our Future campaign.”
