Jahana Hayes, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, shared her perspectives through a series of tweets dated April 30, 2025. Her comments include critiques and concerns regarding ERISA retirement savings programs, Social Security, and the early days of the Trump Administration.
In her first tweet, Hayes expressed concerns regarding retirement savings programs, stating, “Retirement savings programs like ERISA should give workers a voice in how investments are made to ensure they are reflective of their values.”
Later that day, on Social Security, she remarked, “Threats to Social Security jeopardize the retirement security of Americans. Tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy cannot be a trade off for the financial stability of workers & retirees.”
In another tweet, Hayes addressed her disapproval of the Trump Administration, conveying that, “The first 100 days of the Trump Administration have been filled with chaos and uncertainty. I stood with Democratic House & Senate leaders in defense of the American people. Together, we are fighting back against the irresponsible actions which are hurting people.”
Jahana Hayes, born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1973 and a resident of Wolcott, graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
