Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, recently shared updates on her activities and engagements through a series of tweets.
On May 6, 2025, Hayes announced that her “Casework On Your Corner” team would be available at Meriden City Hall from 11 AM to 4 PM. This initiative is aimed at addressing constituent concerns and providing assistance with federal agencies. “Our Casework On Your Corner team will see you TODAY at Meriden City Hall from 11 AM to 4 PM.”
Later that day, Hayes emphasized the importance of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as a crucial support for American families. She highlighted ongoing advocacy efforts in Washington D.C. to safeguard this program against potential cuts. “SNAP is a lifeline to millions of American families. Advocates are in DC standing up to #ProtectSNAP. Together, we will fight against efforts to cut food assistance from our most vulnerable and push to end hunger.”
In another tweet on May 6, Hayes discussed her conversation with Gabby Giffords regarding gun violence prevention work and the impact of reversing gun safety measures on women and children. “A thoughtful and insightful conversation with @GabbyGiffords about her gun violence prevention work and the reversal of so many important gun safety measures that put women & children at risk.”
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1973, Jahana Hayes has been actively serving her constituents while living in Wolcott. She holds a BA from Southern Connecticut State University.
