Jahana Hayes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 5th district, recently shared her thoughts and initiatives through a series of tweets. Her posts cover topics ranging from Black History Month to tax filing programs and environmental concerns in Connecticut.

On February 1, 2025, Hayes highlighted the significance of Black History Month, stating, “February is Black History Month, a time to reflect on the invaluable contributions of Black Americans to our nation. Together, let us honor their voices and stories.”

The following day, February 2, 2025, she discussed the Direct File program for taxes. Hayes noted her support for maintaining and expanding this initiative by saying, “Direct File provides a free, safe & secure option to file taxes online. I joined a letter urging the Administration to maintain & expand this program so Americans can continue saving time & money on their taxes in 2025 and beyond.”

On February 3, 2025, Hayes expressed concern over an EPA funding freeze affecting remediation projects in Connecticut. She stated that she was joined by Sen Blumenthal and Waterbury Mayor Pernerewski in addressing these issues: “I was joined by Sen Blumenthal & Waterbury Mayor Pernerewski to voice concerns on the @EPA funding freeze blocking remediation projects across the Naugatuck Valley & CT. Congress approved these projects & work has begun. These actions are unlawful and hurt impacted communities.”
