Jahana Hayes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district, is using social media to keep her constituents informed and engaged on a variety of topics. Hayes replaced former Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty in 2019 and has since been actively serving her community with information and assistance.
On April 18, 2025, Hayes announced on Twitter “Need help with a federal agency? Our caseworkers will be at Danbury City Hall on Monday, April 21 from 11 AM to 4 PM.” This tweet was intended to inform her constituents about available assistance from her office’s caseworkers.
Later, on the same day, Hayes shared another tweet, “Please join me in congratulating Lieutenant Chris Gutierrez from #NewBritain on his retirement from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our nation.” With this message, she acknowledged the public service and dedication of Lieutenant Gutierrez upon his retirement.
In a subsequent tweet, Hayes expressed concerns about immigration policy, stating, “Even constituents who agree immigration reform is necessary, are concerned with the lawless nature in which deportations are being handled. Congress must get back to providing oversight and restoring checks and balances among the branches of government.” This message highlights her stance on the importance of oversight and balance in government regarding deportation processes.
Jahana Hayes, 50, was born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1973 and currently resides in Wolcott. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2005.
