The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that, in order to facilitate construction work associated with the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster) rehabilitation project in Waterbury, the intersection of Freight Street with Northbound Riverside Street will need to be closed.

CLOSURE INFO

The intersection of Freight Street (westbound starting at Jackson Street) will be temporarily closed beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, until 4:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023 to allow for the reconstruction of Freight Street at Northbound Riverside Street.

DETOUR INFO

From Riverside Street (Northbound and Southbound): Motorists are advised to take a left onto Sunnyside Avenue, then a right onto Highland Avenue and a right onto West Main Street.

From Freight Street: Motorists are advised to take a right onto Jackson Street to West Main Street to access Rte. 8 and destinations to the north.

Access to local businesses on Freight Street will be maintained at all times.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of numerous bridges located within the Route 8 and I-84 Interchange (DOT Project No. 151-326/151-312/151-313) and was awarded to Walsh Construction Company at a cost of $152,960,945.27 on April 18, 2018.
