On April 15, 2025, Hayes highlighted concerns regarding the potential funding cuts to emergency food providers in Torrington. Hayes was born in 1973 in Waterbury, Connecticut, and currently resides in Wolcott. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2005.
