Jahana Hayes, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 5th district since 2019, recently shared her perspectives on various issues through a series of tweets. Her statements covered topics such as curriculum development, women’s health care, and historical reflection on the abolition of slavery.
On December 5, 2024, Hayes expressed her views on curriculum development in education. She stated that “As someone who has helped write curriculum for students, I know that the federal government has no role in the process. Curriculum development decisions should be made by the local stakeholders most affected- not Congress.”
The following day, December 6, 2024, Hayes engaged in discussions with Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE). She noted that it was a “Productive conversation with @PPSNE on the many ways Planned Parenthood continues to support women’s health and healthcare overall in Connecticut.”
Later on December 6, she commemorated the anniversary of an important historical event: “On December 6, 1865, the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery in the United States. As we reflect on this dark chapter in our nation’s history, we’re reminded of our continued pursuit of building a more just and perfect union.”
