Following a partnership between the Town of New Canaan and the New Canaan Community Foundation, twenty-six American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) sub-grants were presented to local non-profits serving the New Canaan community that were identified as being negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The awards – totaling $582,600 – span an array of themes such as Arts, Culture, Tourism, Economic Development, Behavioral Health, Community Support, Domestic Violence, Environment, Sustainability, Food Security and town resources. The grant funding is one of several rounds of allocations of ARPA funds by the Town of New Canaan for which the Town received approximately $6M in ARPA funds that were to be used for government spending as well as toward local economic development and to support local non-profit agencies and local businesses. The New Canaan Community Foundation partnered with the Town to facilitate a grant application and review process for a portion of the funds.
